ANSWER:-

Given:

A river 3m deep and 40m wide is flowing at a rate of 2km/hr.

To find:

The water will fall into the sea in a minute.

Explanation:

We have,

  • River is deep 3m
  • River is wide 40m

Water flowing in river in 1 hour= 2km

Water flowing in river in 1 hour= 2000m                [1km=1000m]

Water flowing in river in 60 minutes= 2000m       [1 hour=60 min.]

Water flowing in river in 1 minute= \frac{2000}{60}

Water flowing in river in 1 minutes= \frac{100}{3}m

Now,

  • Length of the river, L= 100/3m
  • Breadth of the river,B= 40m
  • Height of the river, H= 3m

We know that formula of the volume of the cuboid:

⇒ Length× Breadth× height

∴ Volume of water falling in 1 minutes= (\frac{100}{3} *40*3)m^{3}

Volume of water falling in 1 minutes= (100× 40×1)m³

Volume of water falling in 1 minutes= 4000m³

Thus,

We know that 1m³ = 1000 litres

Volume of water falling in 1 minutes= (4000× 1000)litres

Volume of water falling in 1 minutes= 4000 kilo litres.
