A river 5m deep and 60m wide is flowing at the rate of 6km per hour.How much water will fall into the sea in half an hour?

area of river = l × b

= 5× 60

= 300 m

rate of water = 6km ×5/18

=5/3 m/s

half an hour = 30 minutes = 30×60= 1800 sec

water volume = 5/3× 1800 = 3000 m

volume of water = area × rate of falling

= 300m × 3000m

= 900000 m³

1m³= 1000 litre

900000m³= 900000× 1000

900000000 litre
