Let speed of boat be x m per second .

movement upward in river= (×-2)m per second -------- equation 1

movement downward in river =(×+2)m per second ---------equation 2

according to the question

equation 1 ×2= equation 2

2 (×-2) =(×+2)

2×-4=2+×

2×-×=2+4

×=6 m per second
