A river is flowing with the velocity of 2√3 m/s. A boat has to move from A to B. Find the minimum velocity of boat in still water.

Answer:

Let width of river d, velocity of boat is vb

And velocity of river is Vr

Then drift =Vr. d/Vb

Drift = d/root 3

So

d/root3=Vr. d/Vb

Put Vr =2root 3

So

Vb= 6 m/s

Explanation:-

let assume width of river be d , velocity of boat be Vm and velocity of river be Vr  then:-

drift=(Vr×d)/Vm

drift=d/√3

d/√3=(Vr×d)/Vm

putting   Vr=2√3

Vm =6m/s
