A rock has a mass of 8.0 grams. When the rock is placed in 30mL of water, the water level is raised to 42 mL. What is the density of the rock?

intial placement =30ml

final placement =42ml

volume

=[42-30]ml

=12ml

always know that 1ml=1 cm^-3

hence,

density =mass/volume

=8/12 g cm^-3

=0.6 g cm^-3
