A Rock weighs 1400 Newton in air ,has an Apparent weight of 900 Newton when submerged in freshwater(998 kg/m^3).The volume (in m^3) of the rock is??

=  \bf \: weight \: \: of \: \:  immersed \: \: in \: \: water


 =  > force =  \bf \: mass \times gravity \\  \\  =  > volume = \bf \: mass  \div density

=> Weight of rock in air = \bf \: 1400 \: \: N

=> Weight of rock in water =  \bf \: 900 \: \: N


=> buoyancy force =(1400 - 900)N

= \bf \: 500 \: \: N


=>Weight of water dispersed= \bf \: 500 \: \: N


=> gravity (g) =  \bf \: 9.8 \: \: m \: {s} ^{-2}


=> density (D) =  \bf \: 998\: \: kg/m³


 =  > mass  =  \bf\frac{force}{gravity}  =  \frac{500}{9.8}  = 51.02 \: kg

=> Volume dispersed

 =  \frac{mass}{density}  = \bf \:  \frac{51.02}{998}  = 0.051 \:  {m}^{3}
