A rocket at rest on launch pad is pointing directly
upwards. Its engines can eject gases at the rate
of 1000 kg s- at a speed of 1.8 km s-1. Calcu-
late mass of the rocket if it ascends with accel-
eration 8.2 m/s2 (Take g = 9.8 m/s2)

Answer:

100kg

Explanation:

dm/dt=1000kg/s

v=1.8*1000m/s

net acceleration= g+a= 9.8+8.2=18m/s^2

by conservation of momentum

(dm/dt)v=m(g+a)

1000*1800=m*18

m=100kg
