Given:

AB = 2.5m long is supported at A and B.

The rod is carrying a point load of 5kN at a distance of 1m from A.

To Find:

The reaction at A and B.

Solution:

R_{A} + R_{B} = 5kN

Taking moment at A

R_{A} (0) + R_{B}(2.5) - 5(1) = 0

R_{B}(2.5) = 5

R_{B} = 2kN

R_{A}= 5kN - 2kN

Reaction at A R_{A} = 3kN

Reaction at B R_{B} = 2kN
