Step-by-step explanation:

length of Rod is 20m

To make a rectangle length is double of breadth

so, let the breadth of rectangle be x

then length of rectangle 2x

to find length and breadth 2(l+b)

=2(2x+x)

=2×3x

=6x

x=6

so, length =2x=2×6=12

breadth=x=6

\underline{\bf{Given\::}}

A rod of length 20 metre is bent to make a rectangle. If it's length is 2 more than breadth.

\underline{\bf{Explanation\::}}

Let the breadth of a rectangle be r metre & let the length of a rectangle be (r+2) metre.

Length of rod 20 metres it's called perimeter of rectangle.

A/q

Using formula of the perimeter of rectangle;

\boxed{\bf{Perimeter = 2(length + breadth)}}

\mapsto\tt{2[(r+2) + r] = 20}

\mapsto\tt{2[r+2 + r] = 20}

\mapsto\tt{2[2r+2 ] = 20}

\mapsto\tt{4r + 4 = 20}

\mapsto\tt{4r = 20-4}

\mapsto\tt{4r = 16}

\mapsto\tt{r = \cancel{16/4}}

\mapsto\bf{r = 4\:metre}

Thus,

  • Length of the rectangle = (r+2) m = (4 + 2) m = 6 m
  • Breadth of the rectangle = r = 4 m
