a)Rohan rubbed a plastic ruler to his hair and then took the ruler close to bits of paper. The bits o paper got attracted to the ruler. But when Suresh tried the same with a metal ruler, the bits of paper did not stick to the ruler. He was very confused. Can you explain why this happened?

Explanation:

A plastic is an insulator which gets electrically charged when rubbed on hair. It therefore attracts small bits of paper because paper gets polarized din the presence of charged plastic ruler resulting in a net force of attraction. But whereas metal is a conductor it does not get charged while rubbing it on hair.
