Explanation:

Given A rolling wheel has velocity of its center of mass as 5 m s-1. If its radius is 1.5 m and angular velocity is 3 rad s-1

  • Given velocity of centre of mass also called Translational velocity           V = 5 m/s
  • Radius R = 1.5 m and angular velocity ω = 3 rad / s
  • Now Rotational velocity v = R x ω
  •                                           = 1.5 x 3
  •                                           = 4.5 m / s
  • Since velocity of centre of mass is greater than R x ω, it is sliding and it is not in pure rolling
