To find,

the cost of cementing the verandah at Rs. 2 per square metre.​

Solution,

Area of the room with verandah= length x breadth

= 8.3m x 5.4 m

= 44.82 m2

length of the room without verandah= (8.3-1.4-1.4)m

= 5.5m

the breadth of the room without verandah= (5.4-1.4-1.4)m

= 2.6 m

Area of the room without verandah= 5.5 x 2.6

=14.30 m2

Area of the verandah= 44.82 m2- 14.30 m2

=30.52 m2

The total cost of cementing the verandah = 30.52 x 2

= 61.04

Hence, the cost of cementing the verandah at Rs. 2 per square metre. is Rs 61.04
