Given ,

Length of the room = 300m

Width(breadth) of the room = 200m

Side of square = 180m

To Find :-

Area of the uncovered floor.

Solution :-

Since the floor of the room is a rectangle,

therefore,

it's area = L × B

= 300m × 200m

= 60000 m²

Since the carpet is a square,

therefore

it's area = s²

= (180m)²

= 180m × 180m

= 32400 m²

Area of uncovered floor = Area of whole floor - Area of the square carpet

= (60000 - 32400) m²

= 27600 m²

Therefore, the area of the uncovered floor is 27,600 m²

Short-hands Used :-

  • L = Length
  • B = Breadth
  • W = Width
  • A = Area
  • S = Side of the square.

According to the question :

Rectangular floor = ABCD

Square carpet = PQRB

AP = QS.

=> AB - PB

=> 200 - 180

=> \sf\large\underline\blue{20 m}

AS = 180 m.

=> DS = AD - AS

=> 300 - 180

=> \sf\large\underline\blue{120 m}

Area of the floor not carpet :

Area ( APQS ) + Area ( SRCD )

=> ( AP × QS ) + ( SR + RC )

=> ( 20 × 180 ) + ( 200 × 120 )

=> 3600 + 24000

=> \sf\large\underline\blue{27600 m}

\huge\underline{\underline{\texttt{\pink{Area\:of\:floor\:carpeted\:=\:27600\:m}}}}
