A room has rectangular floor of size 300m by 200m. A square carpet of side 180m is laid in the room. Find the area of floor which is not carpeted.

so ,area of a rectangle=l×b

= 300×200

=60000 m2

area of the rectangle= 60,000 m2

To know the are of the uncovered part of the carpet we should first find out the covered part . So, area of a square = s×s= area

180×180=32400 m2.

we have find the covered part of the carpet

so,uncovered part = total area of rectangle- area of square carpet = 60,000- 32400

= 27600 m2 .
