Given:

Length of the room = 10 m 5 cm

Breadth of the room = 20 m 30 cm

To Find:

The length of the largest tile that can be used

Solution:

Converting m to cm:

=> 10 m 5 cm

=> 1 meter is 100 centimeters.

=> 10 x 100 = 1000

=> 1000 + 5

=> 1005 cm

20 m 30 cm

=> 1 meter is 100 centimeters.

=> 20 x 100 = 2000

=> 2000 + 30

=> 2030 cm

Finding the HCF of 2030 and 1005 in order to find the length of the largest tile that can be used in rectangular room:

1005 ) 2030 ( 2

           2010

        __________

                 20 ) 1005 ( 50

                         1000

                     ___________

                               5 ) 20 ( 4

                                     20

                               __________

                                      0

                              ___________

HCF of 1005 and 2030 is 5.

Hence, the length of the largest square tile that can be used is 5 cm.

Answer:-

the sides of the rectangular room is actually

10m 5cm = 10.05 m

20m 30cm = 20.3 m

so now the area = l * b

                           = 10.05 * 20.3

                           = 204.015 cm^2

now the largest square tile that can be used will be

10.05 cm with its side
