Answer:

Length, l = 10m

Breadth, b = 6m

Area of verandah

= (l+2m)(b+2m)-lb

=(10m+2m)(6m+2m)-10m×6m

=12m×8m-60m²

=96m²-60m²

=36m²

Cost of flooring the verandah

= Rs 236×36

= Rs 8496

Explanation -:

Given :

  • Length of the room = 10 m
  • Breadth of the room = 6 m
  • It is surrounded by a verandah of 2 m

To Find :

  • Cost of flooring the verandah with marble at ₹236 m²

Solution :

Length of the room = 10m

Breadth of the room = 6m

Area of the room = 10 × 6 = 60m²

Length of the room including the verandah

= 10 + (2 + 2)m

= 10 + 4 m

= 14m

Breadth of the room including the verandah

= 6 + (2 + 2)m

= 6 + 4 m

= 10m

Area of the room including the verandah

= 14 × 10

= 140 m²

Area of the verandah = Area of the room including the verandah - Area of the room

→ (140 - 60) m²

→ 80 m²

Cost of flooring 1 m² = ₹236

Cost of flooring 80 m² = ₹(236 × 80) = ₹18,880
