Area of room = l×b
=13×9
=117m square
75 cm=0.75m
Area of carpet = l×b
117=l×0.75
117/0.75=l
l=156m
area of carpet=l×b
=156×0.75
=117m square
rate = 50 per metre
= area of room × rate
=117×50
=Rs 5,850
.°. cost of carpeting the room is Rs 5,850

Answer:

Sol: Length of the room= 13 m

       Breadth of the room = 9 m

      Area of the room = 117 square metre

Given breadth of the carpet is

=75 cm = 0.75 m

Now let us assume 'l' as the length of the carpet in metres.

Area of the carpet = lxb

                               = lx0.75 m

But we know area of carpet is the area of the room = 117 square metre

So, 117 square metre = lx 0.75 m

l= 117/0.75 = 117/1 x 100/75 = 39 x 4= 156 m

l= 156 m

Given cost of one metre length of carpet is rupees 50 per metre but, we need 156 m for full area of the room.

cost= 50 x 156 = 7,800

rupees 7,800
