A room is 16m 20cm long and 12m 40cm width of the floor of the room is covered with square tiles find the side of tile and minimum number of tiles need to cover the floor

Given length of hall = 20m 20cm = 2020cm.

Given breadth of hall = 12m 40cm = 1240cm.

Now,

The size of square tiles will be the HCF of 2020 and 1240.

= > HCF of 2020 and 1240 = 2 * 2 * 5 = 20cm.

Now,

Area of each tile = 20 * 20

= > 400 cm^2.

The required number of tiles = Area of hall/Area of each tile

= > (2020 * 1240)/400

= > 6262.
