a room is 4 cm long and 3m50cm wide. how many square metres of carpet is needed to cover the floor of the room?

4cm = 0.4m
area of the room=lxb
=4x3.5
=14.0sq.m
so, 14 sq.m of carpet is needed to cover a room.

length = 4 cm
breadth = 3m50cm (or) 350 m
Area = l*b
         = 4*350
         = 1400 sq.m
