a room is 4m long and 3 m wide.how many square metres of carpet is needed to cover the floor

length = 4 m, breadth = 3 m 50 cm = 3.5 m

carpet is to be put to cover the area of the floor.

∴ Area of the floor = Area of the carpet needed

= 4 × 3.5

= 14 m2
