The longest rod that can be kept in the room is along the diagonal of the room.
let length of the diagonal is x.

x= sqrt (6^2 +8^2)
=sqrt (36+64)
=sqrt (100)
=10

Therefore the longest rod that can be kept in the room is of length 10.
