Answer:

Given :

• Dimensions of a room :-

Length of a room = 6 m

Breadth of a room = 8 m 30 cm

To find :

Area of carpet required to cover the floor of the room

Knowledge required :-

• Formula to calculate area of floor :-

Area of floor = l × b

where,

l = length of the floor

b = breadth of the floor

Unit conversion ::

1 cm = 0.01 m

Divide the value by 100 to convert it from cm into m.

Solution :

Firstly, we will convert the breadth of the floor from 8 m 30 cm into m.

As we know,

1 cm = 0.01 m

⠀⠀⠀⇒ 50 cm = 50/100 = 5/10 = 0.5 m

Add 0.5 m in 4 m.

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Breadth = 4 + 0.5 = 4.5 m

Breadth of the floor = 4.5 m

Area :-

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = 6 × 4.5

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = 27

★ Area of the carpet required to cover the floor = 27 m²

Some related formulae :-

Total surface Area of cuboid = 2(lb + bh + hl)

Volume of cuboid =  length × breadth × height

Perimeter of cuboid = 4 (length + breadth + height)

Total surface area of cube = 6 × side²

Volume of cube = side³

Perimeter of cube = 12 × side
