Answer:

460.8 RS

Step-by-step explanation:

AREA OF ROOM=2*6*5+2*5*4+2*4*6

                           =60+40+48

                            =148M^2

WALL TO BE PAPERED=144M^2

PAPER TO BE USED=14400/75

                                 = 192 PAPERS

COST= 192*2.40

         =460.8 RS

The cost of the wallpapering is 288 Rs.

Given:

A room is 6m long, 5m wide and 4m high.

The doors and windows in the room occupy 4 square meters of space

To find:

Find the cost of wallpapering the remaining portion of the walls with paper 75 cm wide at the rate of Rs 2.40 per meter.

Solution:

Formula used:

Total surface area of the walls = 2× (Length × height + width × height) - area of doors and windows

From the data,

Length of room = 6 m

Width of room = 5m

Height of room = 4m

Hence,

The total surface area of the walls

= 2× (6 × 4 + 5 × 4) - 4 m²

= 2 (44) - 4  = 84 m²

From the data,

The width of the wallpaper is 75 cm = 0.7 meter

Let 'x' be the length of the wallpaper

Hence, the Area of wallpaper = 0.7 × x = 0.7x m²

Here the area of paper must be equal to the surface area of the walls

=>  0.7x m² = 84 m²

=> x = 120

The rate of cost wallpapering is 2.40 per meter

Cost of the total wallpaper = 120 × 2.40 = 288 Rs.

Therefore,

The cost of the wallpapering is 288 Rs.
