GIVEN:-

  • Length of room = 8m

  • Breadth of room = 5m

  • Breadth of carpet = 80cm = 0.8m

TO FIND :-

  • Cost of Covering a floor of the room with 80cm wide carpet at the rate of rs.225 per m²

Formulae used

  • Area of Rectangle = Length × Breadth.

HOW TO SOLVE:-

  • According to Question we get to know that the carpet has same area as Area of Floor.

  • The Breadth of Carpet is given So, we can find the area of carpet.

Now,

\implies\rm{ Area \:of\: floor  = L\times{B}}

\implies\rm{ Area \:of\: floor  = 8\times{5}}

\implies\rm{Area \:of\:floor = 40m^2}

Therefore,

  • Area of Floor = Area of Carpet

\implies\rm{Area\:of\:Carpet =\dfrac{Area\:of\:floor}{Breadth}}

\implies\rm{Area\:of\:Carpet\:to\:be\:used = \dfrac{40}{0.8}}

\implies\rm{Area\:of\:Carpet\:to\:be\:Used = 50m}

Now,

\implies\rm{Rate\:of\:Covering\:the\:floor = 225 per m}

\implies\rm{Cost\:of\:Covering\:the\: 50m^2\:floor = 225 \times{50}}

\implies\rm{Total\:Cost = 11250}

Hence, The cost of covering the floor is 11250.

Some Useful formulae :-

  • Area of Square = (Side)²

  • Perimeter of Square = 4 × Side

  • Perimeter of Rectangle = 2(L+B)

  • Area of Rhombus = Product of diagonal\2

To Find :

  • we need to find the cost of covering a floor of the room with 80cm wide carpet at the rate of Rs 225 per meter.

Given :

  • Length of room = 8m
  • Breadth of room = 5m

  • Area of floor = l × b

⇛Area of room = 8 × 5

⇛Area of room = 40m²

  • Width of carpet = 80cm

⟹ Converting 80cm into meters

⟹ width of carpet = 80/100

⟹ Width of carpet = 4/5 m

  • Length of carpet :-
  • Area of floor = Area of carpet

So,

⟹ Length of carpet = Area/breadth of carpet

⟹ Length = 40/4/5

⟹ Length = 40 × 5/4

⟹ Length of carpet = 50m

  • Total cost = 50 × 225
  • Total cost = 11250
