Given,

Length of the floor = 8m

Width of the floor   = 6m

Length of the tile     = 25 cm

Width of the tile       = 20 cm

Cost of one tile        = 25 Rupees

To find,

The total cost of tiles to cover the floor

Solution,

We can solve this problem by the following steps

Given that

Length of the floor in meters. Width of the floor in meters.

Length and width of the tile in cm.

Area of a rectangle= Length(L) × Width(W)

Here,

                                    Length = 8m

                                     Width  = 6m

Therefore

Area of the rectangular floor = L × W

                                                 = 8 × 6

                                                 = 48 m²

                                          1m = 100 cm

Therefore,

            To convert m into cm = n × 100

                                                     (whereas n =number in m)

If n= 48

Then,

              48 m= 48 × 100

                       =4800 cm

Then,

               Length of one tile(L) = 25 cm

                   Width of one tile(W) = 20 cm

Therefore,

                      Area of one tile = L × W

                                                 = 25 × 20

                                                 = 500 cm²

Total number of tiles for covering the floor= Area of room÷ Area of tile

                                                                       = 4800 ÷ 500

                                                                       = 9.6 tiles

If,

Cost of one tile = 25 Rupees

Then,

Total Cost of tiles for covering the floor = Number of tiles × Cost of one tile

i.e.,

                        The total cost of 9.6 tiles = 9.6 × 25

                                                                   = 240 Rupees

Thus, the total cost of 9.6 tiles to cover this floor at Rs25 per tile is 240 Rupees.

Number of tiles required is 960 and cost of tiling is Rs 24000 if room is 8m long and 6m wide and tile size is 25cm by 20cm and one tile cost rs 25

Given:

  • A room is 8 m long and 6 m wide
  • Floor to be covered with rectangular tiles of side 25 cm by 20 cm

To Find:

  • Number of tiles required
  • Cost of tiling at R 25 per tile

Solution

  • Area of rectangle = length x breadth
  • 1 m = 100 cm
  • 1 m² = (100 cm)² = 10000 cm²

Step 1:

Find area of room floor

Area of Floor = 8 x  6  m²

Area of Floor = 48 m²

Area of Floor = 48 x 10000 cm²

Area of Floor = 480000 cm²

Step 2:

Find area of a tile

Area of a Tile = 25 x  20  cm²

Area of a Tile = 500 cm²

Step 3:

Calculate number of tiles

Number of tiles = Area of Floor  / Area of a Tile

Number of tiles =  480000/500

Number of tiles =  960

Step 4:

Calculate cost of tiling

Cost of tiling = Number of tiles x cost of a Tile

Cost of tiling = 960 x 25

Cost of tiling = 24000 Rs

Number of tiles required is 960 and cost of tiling is Rs 24000
