A room is 9m. long, 8m broad and 6.5m. high. It has one door of dimensions 2m. x 1.5m. and 3 windows each of dimensions 1.5m. x 1m. Find the cost of whitewashing the walls at Rs. 3.80 per sq. mt.

dimension of room= lbh
=9*8*6.5 = 468.0

dimension of 1 door =2*1.5 = 3.0
dimension of 3 window =3(1*1.5) =4.5

remove the dimension of 3 Windows and 1 door from the room dimension.

468.0 - 3.0*4.5 = 460.5

multiply the cost of whitewashing into total dimension = 460.0*3.80=1749.9


total cost of whitewashing total room = 1749.9

kevinkalash: according to the question you don't have to whitewash the whole room, you have to whitewash only the walls, not including the ceiling and the floor. you have to subtract the area of the door and windows with the area of walls.
