Let the length of room= 7 m
the Breadth of the room = 6m

Area of room = 7 × 6 = 42 m²

42m² = 4200 cm²

No of Tiles = Area / Side of tile

4200/50 = 84

Thus, 84 tiles are required to cover the floor.

The number of tiles required to cover the floor = 168

Given :

A room measuring 7 m by 6 m is to be covered by square tiles of side 50 cm

To find :

The number of tiles required to cover the floor

Formula :

Area of a rectangle = Length × Breadth

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Write down length and breadth of the rectangular field

Length of the room = 7 m = 700 cm

Breadth of the room = 6 m = 600 cm

Step 2 of 2 :

Calculate area of the room

Area of the room

= Length × Breadth

= 700 × 600 cm²

= 420000 cm²

Step 3 of 3 :

Calculate number of tiles required to cover the floor

The length of the square tiles = 50 cm

Area of each square tiles

= 50² cm²

= 2500 cm²

Hence number of tiles required to cover the floor

\displaystyle \sf   =  \frac{Area \: of  \: the  \: room }{Area  \: of  \: each  \: square \:  tiles  }

\displaystyle \sf   =  \frac{420000}{2500}

\displaystyle \sf   =  \frac{4200}{25}

= 168
