Given : A rope is 2.82 meters long is divided equally into 6 pieces.

Two of the pieces are used to form a square,

To Find:   length of one side of square

 round your answer to the nearest centimeters

Solution:

rope is 2.82 meters

1 m = 100 cm

2.82 m = 282 cm

Rope length  = 282 cm

Rope is divided equally into 6 pieces.

=> Length of 6 pieces = 282 cm

=> Length of 1 piece  = 282/6  cm

=> Length of 1 piece  =47  cm

=> Length of  2 pieces  =2 * 47  = 94   cm

Perimeter of Square = 94 cm

Perimeter of Square = 4 ( side length)

4 ( side length) = 94

=>  side length = 94/4

=>  side length = 23.5  cm

round   to the nearest centimeters = 24 cm

Hence length of one side of square  is 24 cm rounded  to the nearest centimeters

Answer:

1m = 100 cm

2.82m = 282 cm

Rope length = 282 cm

Rope is divided equally into 6 pieces.

=> Length of 6 pieces = 282 cm => Length of 1 piece = 282/6 cm

=> Length of 1 piece =47 cm

=> Length of 2 pieces =2 * 47 = 94 cm

Perimeter of Square = 94 cm

Perimeter of Square = 4 (side length)

4 (side length) = 94

=> side length = 94/4

=> side length = 23.5 cm

Round to the nearest centimeters = 24 cm.

Hence length of one side of square is 24 cm rounded to the nearest centimeters.
