Total length of the rope

= 25 whole 1 / 2 m
= 51 / 2 m

Length of each piece require

= 1 whole 1 / 2 m
= 3 / 2 m

∴ Number of pieces required

= Total length ÷ Each piece
= 51 / 2 ÷ 3 / 2
= 51 / 2 × 2 / 3
= 17 / 1 × 1 / 1
= 17

Hence, 17 pieces can be cut from the rope.
