Given:

A rope is stretched from the top of a vertical pole to a point 6m from the foot of the pole.

The rope makes an angle of 60° with horizontal

To find:

The height of the pole

Solution:

Let's assume,

"AB" → the height of the vertical pole

"BC" → the distance between the point and the foot of the pole = 6 m

"AC" → the length of the rope

"∠ACB = 60°" → the angle made by the rope with the horizontal

In Δ ABC, we have

AB = perpendicular

BC = Base

θ = 60°

tan\:60\° = \frac{AB}{BC}

\implies \sqrt{3} = \frac{AB}{6}

\implies AB = 6\sqrt{3}

Thus, the height of the pole is → 6√3 m.
