3x+5x+6x=238
so here 14x=238
therefore x=238/14=17
shortest piece of rope is 3x=3*17=51cm

Hey friend , Harish here.

Here is your answer:

Given that,

Length of rope = 238 cm

The ratio of the pieces cutted = 3:5:6

To find,

Length of the shortest piece of rope.

Solution,

Let the length of cut ropes be 3x, 5x, 6x.

Then,

[tex]3x+5x+6x=238 [/tex]

14x=238

x= \frac{238}{14}

x = 17

The length of shortest piece = 3x = 3×17 = 51 cm

Therefore length of shortest piece is 51cm.
