A rotating toy of moment of inertia 2.0 kg m is rotating with an angular velocity of 3.0 rad/s when its
moment of inertia is suddenly changed to 1.5 kg m because some of the mass is moved closer to the
axis. Calculate the new angular velocity.

Explanation:

conservation of angular momentum

I1 w1 = I2 w2

2×3 = 1.5 ×w2

w2 = 4 rad/s
