Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Cost price of cheese= Rs 750

Cost price of butter = Rs 1250

Total cost price of 5 tins of cheese and 3 tins of butter (without discount)

= 5 x 750 + 3 x 1250

= ₹ (3750 + 3750)

=  ₹ 7500

Discount given on cheese = 8%

Effective price of one tine of cheese after giving discount

= (750 - 8% of 750)

= ₹ 750 - 60

=₹  690

Total price of 5 tins of cheese = ₹ 5 x 690 = ₹  3450

Discount given on butter = 20%

Effective price of one tin of butter = 1250 - 20% of 1250

                                                         = ₹ 0.8 x 1250

                                                         = ₹ 1000

Total price of 3 tins of butter = ₹ 3 x 1000 = ₹3000

Hence, total price of 5 tins of cheese and 3 tins of butter after giving discounts = ₹ 3000 + ₹ 3450 = ₹ 6450

Hence, Total effective discount =₹ 7500 - ₹ 6450 = ₹ 1050

Total effective discount = (1050/7500) x 100

                                        = 14%
