If the athlete completes one round of the circle of radius r in 40 seconds then at the end of the 2 minutes and 20 seconds he would have completed 3 and half rounds and he would be exactly to the opposite point of the beginning point after 3 and half rounds so his displacement would be exactly equal to the radius of the circle that is 2 R.
