The Speed for the first 100m is 10m/s

Speed for the next 100m is 12.5m/s

The average speed for the whole journey is 11.11 m/s.

Given,

Time taken to cover first 100 mts = 10s

Time taken to cover next 100 mts = 8s

To Find,

Speed of first 100 mts =?

Speed of second 100 mts =?

Solution,

To calculate Speed, the following formula is used,

Speed = distance travelled/ time taken

To calculate Speed for the first 100mts,

Distance D1 = 100mts

Time t1 = 10s

Speed = 100/10

= 10 m/s

Speed for the first 100mts = 10 m/s

To calculate Speed for the next 100mts,

Distance D2 = 100mts

Time t2 = 8s

Speed = 100/8

= 12.5 m/s

Speed for the second 100mts = 8 m/s

To calculate the average speed,

Average speed = total distance travelled / total time taken

Total distance = D1+D2

= 100+100

= 200m

Total time taken = t1+t2

= 10+8

=18s

Average Speed= D1+D2/ t1+t2

= 200/18

=11.11 m/s

Average Speed for the whole journey= 11.11 m/s

Therefore, the Speed for the first 100m is 10m/s

Speed for the next 100m is 12.5m/s

The average speed for the whole journey is 11.11 m/s
