A runner travels around a square park of side 70 metres. After running around the track two times, the runner is back to starting point. If the time elapsed is 100 seconds, determine average speed and average velocity.

Answer:

speed is 5.6m/s

velocity is 0

Explanation:

side=70m

therefore perimeter is equal to

4 x 70 = 280m

He runs 2 times

so distance covered by him = 2x280 = 560m

Time=100sec

Average speed= total distance/total time

= 560/100

= 5.6m/s

Average velocity= displacement/time

as his starting and ending points are same

therefore disp. is 0

Hence avg velocity=0
