Given :

A's Age 18 years hence will be thrice his age four years ago.

To find :

A's present age

Solution :

Let A's present age be x years.

A's age 18 years later = ( x + 18 ) years

A's age 4 years ago = ( x - 4 ) years

According to the problem ,

=> x + 18 = 3 ( x - 4)

=> x + 18 = 3x - 12

=> 18 + 12 = 3x - x

=> 30 = 2x

=> x = 30 / 2

=> x = 15

Hence, A' s present age is 15 years.
