A's age is 4 times that of B's age. 10 years ago, A's age was 19 times that of B's age. Find the present ages of A and B.

Explanation:

Let A's age be x

B's age be y

therefore,

A's present age = 4y(x)

B's present age = y

10 years before

A's age = x-10

B's age = y-10

since, A's age was 19 times that of B's age

x - 10 = 19(y - 10)

x = 19y - 190 + 10

(since x was 4y)

4y-19y = -180

- 15 y = -180

y = -180/-15

y = 12

therefore,

A's age = 4y = 4*12= 48

B's age = 12
