age of the A = 6 times of B's age

= 6x years

After 5 years

age of B = ( x + 5 ) years

age of A = ( 6x + 5 ) years

given,

age of A = 3 times of B's age

6x + 5 = 3 ( x + 5 )

6x + 5 = 3x + 15

6x - 3x = 15 - 5

3x = 10

x = 10/3

Therefore,

at present

age of B = x = 10/3 years

age of A = 6x = 6 × 10/3 = 20 years
