A's age is two times of b. After 8 years, the ratio of then ages will be 7:4,find the present age

let age of A be x and that of B be y

ATQ , x = 2y

after 8 years,

x+8/y+8=7/4

cross multiplying,
4x + 32 = 7y + 56
we get ,
4x-7y=24

putting x =2y in the above equation,

8y-7y = 24
y = 24 years

so x will be = 2y = 48 years

then the age of a will be 2x

let the ratios be 7x and 4x

therefore

x+8+2x+8=7x+4x

3x+16=11x

3x-11x=-16

-8x=-16

x=-16/-8. = 2 years

2x=2×2=4 years
