EVALUATION

Let the distance travelled by two wheeler is x km and by auto is y km on that day

Now it is given that On a specific day the executive travelled 120 km

$\sf{x + y = 120 \: \: \: ......(1)}$

Again sales executive charges his company Rs. 1.75 per km travelled by his two wheeler and Rs. 5 per km if travelled by auto

So by the given condition

$\sf{1.75x + 5y = 288 }$

$\sf{ \implies \: 175x + 500y = 28800 \: \: \: ....(2) }$

From Equation (1) & Equation (2) we get

$\sf{ 175(120 - y) + 500y = 28800 \: \: \: }$

$\sf{ \implies \: 21000 - 175y + 500y = 28800 \: \: \:}$

$\sf{ \implies \:325y = 7800 \: \: \: }$

$\sf{ \implies \:y = 24 \: \: \: }$

Hence the distance travelled by auto on that day is 24 km
