Concept:

A significant part of sales compensation is commission. It is the amount of money earned by a salesman according to the number of sales made. This is money that is usually added on top of a regular paycheck.

Given:

12% commission on the total sales

A bonus of 3% on the sales over Rs20000

To find:

The total sales.

Solution:

Let total sales be = x

12% commission on the total sales

A bonus of 3% on the sales over Rs20000

Commission on below 20,000 rs sales = x*  12/100%

Bonus=

( x-20000)*\frac{3}{100} \\=\frac{12x}{100} + (x-20000)*\frac{3}{100} \\= 7650\\=12x + 3x -60,000 \\= 765000=15x\\= 825000\\x = 55000

Therefore the total sales are 5500
