Salesman total sales is Rs. 80000.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Salesman receives 8% commission on the total sales.

If sales exceed 20,000 he receives an additional commission at 2% on the sales over 20,000/.

If  salesman receives Rs.7,600 as commission.

To Find:

Salesman total sales.

Solution:

Let the total sales is p.

Salesman commission =salesman receives 8% commission on the

total sales +additional commission at 2% on the sales over 20,000.

7600= \frac{8}{100}  \times p +\frac{2}{100} \times (p-20000)

7600= 0.08 \times p +0.02 \times (p-20000)

7600= 0.08  p +0.02 p-20000\times 0.02

7600= 0.08  p +0.02 p- 400

7600 +400= 0.08p+0.02p

8000=0.1p

p= Rs.\ 80000

Thus,salesman total sales is Rs. 80000.
