A saline contains 40g of (nacl) common salt and 320g of water .Calculate the number of moles of common salt in the solution

given mass of NaCl=40g

molar mass of NaCl=58.5g mol

number of moles =given mass/ molar mass

n=40/58.5=0.683 moles

Gram molecular mass of NaCl = (23+35.5)

= 58.5

Hence, moles present in 40g of NaCl

= 40/58.5

= 0.6837 (approximate)
