A salt X when dissolved in distilled water gives a clear solution which turns red litmus blue. Explain the phenomenon.

X could be a metal salt because metal oxides are basic in nature.....

it could be salt of magnesium

the colour of the Litmus Paper is changed because the metallic salt are somewhat basic in nature through the red litmus turn blue when it is dipped in base
