Explanation:

Boyle's law states that P

1

V

1

=P

2

V

2

Here, at NTP, pressure =76 cm of Hg=P

1

V

1

=5L

V

2

=30L+5L

Now

P

1

×(5)=P

2

×(35)

P

1

=7P

2

P

2

=76/7=10.8 cm of Hg

So, pressure in both cylender =10.8cm

Given - Initial pressure = 1 atm

Initial volume = 5 litre

Temperature = 300 Kelvin

Final volume = 20 litre

Find - Pressure of gas

Solution - We can use Boyle's law to find the final pressure of gas. The relation between pressure and volume will be P1V1 = P2V2. P1 and V1 are initial pressure and volume. P2 and V2 are final pressure and volume.

Keeping the values in formula-

1*5 = P2*20

P2 = 5/20

P2 = 0.25 atm

Hence, pressure of gas is 0.25 atm, which in accordance with Boyle's law is seen to decrease with increase in volume.
