The ratio of the elements in NaOHNaOHis 1:1:11:1:1 . As the question states that there are 3moles3moles of Oxygen ,then theres should be 3moles3moles of Sodium and 3moles3moles of Hydrogen to maintain the ratio of 1:1:11:1:1 so if the number of moles of Oxygen in 3 then the ratio now becomes 3:3:33:3:3
Calculating the gram formula mass of 3mol3mol ofNaOHNaOH we get :
(3×23)+(3×16)+(3×1)=120......(i)(3×23)+(3×16)+(3×1)=120......(i)
Therefore to calculate the purity of NaOHNaOH in percentage ,we use the formula
MolarmassgivenMass×100MolarmassgivenMass×100
Substituting the value we got in (i),(i), we get
(3×23)+(3×16)+(3×1)1000×100=12%(3×23)+(3×16)+(3×1)1000×100=12%
So in conclusion the percentage purity of NaOH is
