Answer:

Rs 7.02

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi,

Let the saree be represented by ABCD as shown in the

attached figure,

Let the border printed on the saree be the  area between

the rectangles ABCD and PQRS,

Given the saree is 5m long and 1.125 m wide

Area of the saree = 5*1.25 = 6.25 m²

Given the border is of width 20 cm.

Length of the saree without border

will be PQ = AB = 2*width of border

PQ = AB - 2*20 cm

= 5 - 2*0.2

= 4.6 m

Width of the saree without border

= QR = BC - 2*width of the border

= 1.25 - 2*(20 cm)

= 1.25 - 0.4 m

= 0.85 m

Area of the saree without border

= PQ*RS

= 4.6*0.85

= 3.91 m²

Area of border of saree = Area of saree -

Area of saree without border

= 6.25 - 3.91

= 2.34 m²

Given that cost of printing is Rs 3 per m²,

Since border is of area 2.34 m², cost of printing

2.34 m² will be

= Rs 2.34 * 3

= Rs 7.02

Hope, it helps !
