Area of border = area of border along both lengths + area of border along a breadth - overlapping area

Area of border = 2 × 6 × 0.15 + 1.8 × 0.5 - 2 × 0.5 × 0.15

Area of border = 1.8 + 0.9 - 0.15

Area of border = 2.7 - 0.15

Area of border = 2.55 m^2

Hence, total area covered by the border is 2.55 m^2.
