A satellite heaving time period same as that of the earth's rotation about It's own axis is orbiting the earth at a hight 8R above the surface of earth where, R is radius of earth. What will be the time period of another satellite at hight 3.5 R from the surface of earth? ​

Answer:

Distance of satellite from center of earth are 9R and 4.5 R respectively

Time period of geostationary satellite is 24 hours

T2/T1 = (R2 / R1) ^ 3/2

T2 = 24 (4.5R / 9R) ^ 3/2

= 6√2 hours
